A.A. Bakhrushin State Museum of Theatre presented its collection in Abakan, the capital of Khakassia, for the first time. The L.R. Kyzlasov Khakassia National Museum of Local History exhibits more than 130 masterpieces from the collection of the Moscow museum. Exhibition includes autographed photos of Russian actresses, pictures of buildings of the imperial theatres in Moscow, posters, dating from the year 1791, the scenic paintings in oil, watercolor, ink, white lead and graphite pencil, sculptures, scenery sketches and handmade costumes of the early twentieth century. Some paintings reach over two meters in height.
“This exhibition is the result of a cooperation agreement between the theater museum and the Government of Khakassia, which we signed last year at the previous International Cultural Forum, — said Dmitry Rodionov, Director General of the A.A. Bakhrushin State Museum of Theatre, at the opening of the exhibition. — This collection gives an impression of development of the national theater from its origins to 1917, it presents the outstanding figures of Russian culture from Shchepkin and Gogol to Yermolova and Chekhov, the great age of Russian literature and theater.”
The unique exhibition will last in Abakan to July 20, 2013. Then, the exhibition will make a tour to the city Zelenogorsk (Krasnoyarsk Kray), Yoshkar-Ola, Taganrog and will complete the journey in Veshenskaia stanitsa, the homeland of Mikhail Sholokhov.
Additionally, another large-scale exhibition “Ethnical Motives in Art of Tuva and Khakassia” started its work. This is a joint project of L.R. Kyzlasov Khakassia National Museum of Local History and the Aldan-Maadyr National Museum of the Republic of Tuva.
Hundreds of rare artifacts was brought to the capital of Khakassia. Among them: photographs of the early twentieth century, wooden and bone handmade musical instruments, shaman and wedding suits, hunting attributes, silver jewelry, amulets, snuff boxes, leather shoes, wooden toys, horse equipment, and more. All museum pieces are handmade. Exhibition sectors are accompanied by historical information about the culture and craft of Tuva and Khakassia people, as well as the legends of the peoples. The center of each exposure of Tuvan and Khakassian ethnography is a yurt — traditional dwelling of Khakassia and Tuva people.
The exhibition “National motifs in the art of Tuva and Khakassia" will work in Abakan till the 1st of September, 2013. On September 13, 2013 the exhibition will be presented to Kyzyl inhabitants.
In addition, Khakassia holds the open sitting of Scientific council of historical museums and museums of regional studies. For three days the managers of Russian museums, as well as representatives of service of non-state museums of Bavaria will discuss current issues in museum design and construction of new museums.
