Kazakhstan business community opposed the actions of Mukhtar Ablyazov

The appeal announced that the discrediting of the well-known statesmen and Kazakhstan public figures in the international community was initiated and sponsored by Mukhtar Ablyazov.

Businessmen ask Prosecutor and Justice Bodies to draw their attention to the activities of Mukhtar Ablyazov, the former head of BTA Bank, associated with the financing of nongovernmental organizations, political parties and the media, which were engaged in discrediting of Kazakhstan. There are "K +" channel , the newspaper "Respublika ", "Vzglyad", a bunch of Internet sites among them.

The letter also tells about the necessity of returning the funds, taken by Mukhtar Ablyazov during the period of his management at the Kazakhstan BTA-Bank. According to the experts, about 10 billion U.S. dollars was withdrawn through the offshore accounts and unsecured loans from Kazakhstan. This amount includes foreign loans, deposits in Kazakhstan companies, personal savings of citizens also.

The business community in Kazakhstan insists on the necessity to ensure control over Ablyazov”s arrested bank accounts in the foreign banking institutions, they also ask to track down the financing channels of the media and political organizations, which are under his control.

The appeal was signed by Mr. A. Perushev, the Chairman of the Board of "Atameken”, the National Economic Chamber of Kazakhstan, and the representatives of 34 branch associations.
