Yandex Shows Closest Points of Interest

Yandex.Bar is a browser toolbar developed by Yandex to enhance online user experience. The new version has a module, which allows to pinpoint a user’s location with an accuracy of up to 150 meters. Providing the Wi-Fi geolocation feature to its users, Yandex utilizes information from AlterGeo.

Prior to Yandex.Bar, the Wi-Fi geolocation feature has been installed on Yandex.Maps for mobile. Using this feature, mobile owners can find the closest points of interest even when the GPS signal is unavailable.

Currently, Yandex.Bar with Wi-Fi geolocation is available only for Internet Eхplorer. To learn more about other features in the new version of the toolbar, please visit the product’s blog (in Russian). The new Yandex.Bar is available for download at bar.yandex.ru.
